Who is Curious?
Bobby Curious is a son of an Avon Lady and a meat cutter who was raised in Wahoo, Nebraska and born on Leap Year's Day. He is a singer/songwriter who performs originals as well as the widest variety of interactive cover songs on the acoustic guitar and ukulele. Solos are often accomplished on a harmonica, kazoo, whistling, or an attention-grabbing mouth horn/synthesizer.
A set of his music can switch from background conversation music to engaging singalong favorites in a heartbeat. He could even quickly shift to a set of family-friendly music due to his many years of being a music educator.
Bobby relocated in the summer of 2021 to the Catskills from New York City where he performed solo at various New York City venues such as The Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre and Catch A Rising Star's - Big Bad Music Show. Prior to that, he had years of experience as a bassist/vocalist in a widely successful band in his home state of Nebraska. He has enjoyed playing in the various venues near his new Upstate home and is branching out even further.

Curious History
Bobby's been a musician all his life - he played the piano as a kid, the French horn as a youth, and then discovered the bass guitar. This led him to start his own garage band in Junior High School and pen his first song, "I Hate Your Guts," which he often dedicated to his x-girlfriend during live performances.
While attaining his degree in Advertising (with minors in Marketing, English, Sociology, and Psychology at the University of Nebraska), he continued playing bass for a number of musical groups that encompassed a wide range of styles:
The University's “Scarlet and Cream Singers" (a touring swing choir),
A punk band called "Dismember,"
“The Paul Phillips Show” - an acoustic guitar playing walking jukebox, who he co-wrote the "Husker Reggae” (a reggae version of the Nebraska Fight Song which received radio airplay and can still be heard as a musical backdrop for local football highlight shows),
A rock and roll cover band (plus originals) called "JAGG" with a heart-throb lead singer (envision the band's poster with the members all standing in the middle of a cornfield with smug looks on their faces, staring into the distance. (Go to https://www.bobbycurious.com/home/curious-scrapbook)
After the "JAGG" lead singer took off for Hollywood, Bobby assumed the lead singer/bassist role and the band adopted the moniker “Bobby Curious." This three piece combo (bass, drums, guitar) ended up being the big fish in the small pond of Nebraska, gaining a substantial following and putting out a mildly successful cassette of originals. Bobby soon tired of this less than inspiring environment and moved to New York City where he obtained a certificate as a Kodaly Music Educator. He became interested in the Kodaly method because it is a program that uses folk songs, games and poems to teach music literacy to children. He used this philosophy to teach children with special needs. He has also dabbled in musical comedy and enjoyed a stint as the musical director of an improvisational acting troupe "Lost Footage," often stepping onstage to improvise songs. The improv troupe disbanded to focus on individual pursuits, allowing Mr. Curious to concentrate on his singing and songwriting career.
Bobby's curiosity and affinity for various musical styles is apparent in both his live performances and self-released CD. This singer/songwriter, who was born on Leap Year's Day, does not dwell long within one genre of music. During a typical set of his acoustic/vocal/harmonica based originals, an eclectic mix of musical tastes are revealed: A folk/rock salute to Evel Knievel may appear next to the heavy metal wanna-be “Me," while the bossa nova introspective "Don't Forget to Breathe," might be sandwiched in between a quirky "Little Toe" and the true story novelty tune "Delivery Boy."
